ZZZ FretHarmony - Privacy Policy

1. In short

This app shows guitar chords, voicings, scales and progressions on a fretboard, and plays them. Your settings and the progressions you save are kept on your device only; nothing about your playing is sent to a server or to the cloud. There is no account and no sign-in, and there is no analytics and no crash reporting.

The app can show adverts, and the advert setting is off when the app is installed. While it is off the app makes no network call of any kind, exactly as before. Turning it on in App info lets Google supply the adverts, which means an advertising identifier and a rough location leave your device. It can be turned off again at any time.

2. What is kept on the device

2.1 Settings

• Key, scale, tempo, time signature, looping, metronome, volume, attack and release, chosen instrument, tuning, fret count, and the progression and arpeggio in use — so that the app opens where you left it
• Written to the app's own storage as settings.json

2.2 Progressions you save

• The progressions you name and save: degrees, chord qualities, bar lengths, what each bar is played with, and where the piece changes key
• One JSON file per progression, in the app's own storage
• Nothing identifying is included; the name is the one you typed

2.3 Audio

• The app plays sound through the speaker or headphones. It never takes input from the microphone.

3. What it is used for

• Drawing chord tones, scales and voicings on the fretboard
• Playing a progression, a single chord, or a scale
• Restoring your last selection when the app opens
• Recalling the progressions you saved

4. Where it is kept

• ✅ Settings and saved progressions live in the app's own storage, on your device
• ❌ Nothing is sent to a server run by us
• ❌ No cloud upload, backup or sync
• ❌ No way for the developer to reach what is on your device

5. Sharing with third parties

Your settings, your saved progressions and everything you play stay on your device, and are never given or sold to anyone. Nothing the app knows about your music reaches us or anybody else.

The one thing that does leave the device is an advert request, and only while adverts are switched on. What that request carries is described in the next section.

6. Adverts

Adverts are supplied by Google AdMob. They are off when the app is installed, and the switch is in App info.

6.1 While adverts are off

• ✅ The advert software is never started
• ✅ No advert is requested and no consent form is shown
• ✅ The app makes no network call of any kind

6.2 While adverts are on

A banner appears at the foot of the screen, and a full-screen advert appears occasionally — before every fifth time you press play, and after choosing a tuning other than the standard one. There are also videos you can choose to watch in exchange for opening a feature for a day; those are never shown unless you ask for one, and declining costs you nothing that was free before. To fill any of them, Google receives:

• Your device's advertising identifier, and whether you have limited its use
• The device's model, operating system and language
• An approximate location, derived from the network address — not GPS
• Which adverts were shown, and whether one was tapped

Nothing about your music is included: not the chords you look at, not the progressions you save, not what you play or how often. Google's own policy governs what it does with what it receives: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Where the law requires it — in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and some other places — a consent form appears before the first advert, and your answer decides whether the adverts you see are personalised. The choice can be changed later, and turning adverts off stops the requests entirely.

7. Other third-party services

The app uses none of these.

• ❌ Analytics (Google Analytics, Firebase and the like)
• ❌ Crash reporting (Crashlytics and the like)
• ❌ Web fonts fetched at runtime
• ❌ In-app purchases
• ❌ Sign-in or social accounts

The instrument sounds are recordings shipped inside the app; playing them fetches nothing.

8. Permissions

The app does not access the microphone, camera, location, contacts, notifications or shared storage. Playing sound needs no permission.

The one prompt it can show is Apple's Allow tracking?, and only after adverts have been switched on. Declining it does not stop the app or the adverts; it means the adverts are not personalised. It is never shown while adverts are off.

9. Deleting your data

Saved progressions can be deleted from the app's Settings screen at any time. Uninstalling the app removes everything it kept — settings and saved progressions — from the device.

10. Children

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. It does not collect personal information at all.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may change as the app gains features. Anything significant will come with an update to the app.
